Eco-Friendly Diapers

It's true that many people...who the rest of the world has jokingly referred to as: granola heads, hippies, vegans, bohemians, tree huggers, etc...have for the past 15 years or so....taken mindful steps in trying to "green" their homes, babies, foods, husbands, pets, and even work place. It is only now that the rest of us fools have caught up with them, and realized the importance of reducing our family's chemical in-take, our babies' exposure to toxic fabrics, materials & ingredients, and the overall impact our carbon footprint is having on our planet.

Needless to say, for some it is not easy or affordable to go green. Unfortunately, non-eco products are still the norm...therefore keeping prices on the alternative eco-friendly item - high. That's not to say that if we all start doing our part and begin changing a few habits, brands or products....that the market will listen and green products can be an everyday thing...not a luxury.

As moms and now owners of an eco-friendly store...it is pretty obvious that we're always on the lookout for the best and safest baby products. That is why we want to share a couple of tips for all those moms who want to take baby steps (no pun intended) towards their "going green" process. People always ask: " how can we green our diapers....without having to go back to those messy and time-consuming cloth diapers?"....our answer: ECO-FRIENDLY DISPOSABLE DIAPERS !!! In our opinion, the best invention second to stretchy denim and underwire bras (specially after you've popped a couple of lil' peanuts).

We have tried a few brands and have a favorite. We suggest you buy a pack of each...try them out....and see which one you like best. Regardless of the brand you pick, you'll feel great to know they're all better for your child and the earth.

Favorite Eco-Diaper Brand: Nature BabyCare - disposable, white (made with unbleached materials), chlorine free, super absorbent (even thru the nite), 100% bio-degradable, breathable, soft, thin, resealable tabs, priced at comparable levels, come with a cute leafy pattern (inks used are free of toxic metals). Other Recommended Brands: Seventh Generation - these diapers have a kraft paper tone, chlorine-free, premium absorbency (also worked well thru the nite), don't contribute to dioxin pollution, soft, hypo-allergenic, have stretchy resealable closure tabs, thin, fit well, have no latex, fragrance, or TBT (tributyl tin). They also carry eco baby wipes. Sold at most baby marts or online.

Tushies - these are white disposable diapers (made with unbleached materials), non-toxic, soft, super absorbent, have a cloth-like cover, moisture barrier cuff, refastenable tabs, are breathable, latex-free, perfume-free, hypo-allergenic, and are not tested on animals.
